Hacienda San Rafael is located 11 km from the town of Lagos de
Moreno.

| Lagos, or Techichiatlan, as called by the
indigenous people, is about 1900 m at elevation above sea level, and
thus has a very pleasant and moderate climate with annual average
temperature of 19 degree celcius (oC) with warm summers and mild dry
winters. The vegetation of the area is primarily nopal cactus, savila
(aloe vera), agave, maguey, huizache, and mezquite trees. |
| Lagos is located in the central interior
of Mexico, about 600 km north-west of Mexico City. One of the most
antique cities in the country, Lagos de Moreno is full of many colorful
buildings of colonial architecture and is rich with the history of
the Independence and the Revolution of Mexico. The central ubication
of Lagos provides easy access to explore towns and cities of cultural
richness and fascinating architecture. For example, Guanajuato, San
Miguel de Allende, Guadalajara, Zacatecas, Dolores Hidalgo and also
including many other interesting cities that are within an hour drive
to and from Lagos. |

| Techichiatlan is where battles between the
spanish, and guachichiles indigenous were fought. It was also a refuge
place for revolutionary farmers, thus its history is compared to none
in the world. “The lands where the indigenous people preferred to
die before loosing their freedom and the wind of their fields. And
where their blood designed the heart of their rocks, is nowadays called
Lagos de Moreno” |
